Welcome
I’m Matt Gibson, a creative geek from Bristol. Some people know me as “gothick”, for fairly obscure reasons1. This site is mostly for my sporadic techy blog, a collection of random musings and notes-to-self.
The Day Job
Mostly, I’m a computer programmer. That’s my day job, and often my hobby. I’ve written everything from pension systems to Facebook applications.
Jogging
I finished the “Couch to 5K” running programme with the help of my friend Benjohn’s iPhone application, Get Running. Then I carried on. There’s more about that on my other blog, over at Matt Gets Running.
Writing
I’ve also written reviews and interviewed celebrities for the BBC, tried to demystify some of the sillier things in science and technology for Null Hypothesis, and recently broken into print in Defining Moments in Science and 1001 Inventions that Changed the World
.
Photography
Sometimes, I take photographs well enough to get paid for it, too. You can check out my portfolio on mattgibsonphoto.com, or browse my stream on Flickr.
1I have never put on white pancake makeup and eyeliner. Maybe a touch of nail varnish every now and again, but that’s as far as it’s gone.
Social Stuff
You can…
- Follow me on Twitter
- See what I read on LibraryThing
- Find me on Flickr
- Watch my shaky Kodak Zi6 videos on Vimeo
- Stalk me on FaceBook
I’m also curator of sentences at Unique Sentence. It’s a long story.
